2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Hybrid, Phev, Specs, Limited, Edition – The current generation of the Outlander is quite an old car, so it started to fall behind the competition a few years ago slowly and it is currently one of the worse selling cars in the mid-size crossover market. However, there are plans to change that with Mitsubishi releasing an official statement that they are going to update the vehicle by the end of 2017.
2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Concept
In fact, they had to replace the car entirely in 2014, but due to a few problems with the vehicle, they needed to extend that term to the mid of 2019. This is the date when the new Mitsubishi Outlander 2019 is expected to come on the market as an entirely new car While there isn’t much information about it just yet Mitsubishi did release a concept car called the GC-PHEV, a futuristic car which tells us a few things about the next generation cars from the Japanese manufacturer. The new Outlander is expected to ride on a new platform and have a lot of improvements mostly to the engine and transmission department where the previous car was lacking severely.
2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Price
The price for the base model should be no higher than 25.000 dollars which would still be around 5000 dollars less than what the competing cars cost.
2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Exterior
The outside of the car is going to change drastically over the current generation. While the primary shape is going to be kept, all the details will switch to a more futuristic look. The front end will get a similar grille and headlights to the next generation Evo while at the back the car will get a set of LED tail lights and a new integrated dual exhaust system. There is even going to be a rear diffuser while the entire vehicle will be lower and wider to have improved aerodynamics and look better at the same time. This will shave from the off-road capabilities of the model, but it was never really intended for heavy off-road use.
2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Interior
Inside the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander things are going to be very similar to the exterior of the car. The design is going to be simplified mostly because less is more. All the controls for the satellite navigation unit, the air conditioning system or even the radio are now going to be on a 12-inch screen while the instrument cluster will be a massive screen instead of the usual analog dials. The materials will also get a nice bump in quality with premium leather and aluminum used on the higher end model.
2019 Mitsubishi Outlander ES Engine
All the engines in the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander are going to be new. Both the 2.4 liter and the 3 liter V6 are going to be discontinued in favor of three new powertrains. The base car could get the new 1.6 liters turbocharged inline 4 developed for the Lancer Evo. This will quickly provide 200 horsepower and 205 lb-ft of torque which is more than what the previous engine had. The mid-range driver should be a 2-liter turbocharged engine with around 260 power while the top end model will most likely get a supercharged hybrid.
We don’t have too much information about this just yet, but it might be a V6 coupled to a pair of electric motors and a battery which will allow it to run up to 30 miles in electric mode only. All of these engines are likely to be coupled to a new 6 or 8-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel drive system as standard. The CVT unit is expected to be discontinued because it didn’t really offer any kind of advantage over the usual 6-speed automatic gearbox
